The elections taking place on Thursday 4th May 2023 will be the first time that electors have to produce Voter ID, a new requirement introduced by the UK Government.

The Electoral Commission have launched a website with information for voters, including which forms of photo ID will be accepted, at www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voterID.  There is also a helpline available on 0800 328 0280.

Those voters who don’t have an accepted form of photo ID will be able to apply for a free voter ID document, known as a Voter Authority Certificate.  The online application service for this launched last week, and is available at voter-authority-certificate.service.gov.uk. Voters who are unable to apply online will be able to request a paper application form by emailing us at elections@rother.gov.uk or by phone on 01424 787000.  The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate in time for the forthcoming local elections is 5pm on Tuesday 25 April.  It is important to note that residents must be registered to vote before they can apply for this document.
