Brightling local lunches to continue in 2023 – Brightling, East Sussex – village website

An announcement from Joanna Coleman

Brightling Local Lunches will continue every even-numbered month in 2023, using local and seasonal produce, with the first lunch on Wednesday February 15th, hall open from noon for 12.30 sit down (see the Brightling calendar for full list of dates).

We appreciate the support of the community with regard to donations of seasonal vegetables and will also supplement the menu with what we are able to forage, winter chanterelle were served with local pheasant from the Brightling Estate for a Pheasant Chasseur at the Christmas lunch, along with a succulent Beef Casserole with dumplings, the beef originating on the French’s farm, so minimum carbon footprint.

In 2021 and 2022 the Village Hall kindly allowed us use of their facilities for free, however with rising prices this has become unsustainable. We all want the Village Hall to be available as a local resource and therefore it needs to generate revenue to meet its costs, as a consequence we will be paying to use the hall so your donations are essential to sustaining local lunches.

Bev and I wish you all an happy and healthy 2023 and look forward to welcoming you over the course of the year

Thanks

Joanna
