Brightling is being powered by 14 diesel generators – Brightling, East Sussex – village website

Today Brightling is getting its power from 14 diesel generators, which have been installed at various points in an around the village.

This is to allow for upgrades to be installed. The power lines themselves are not being altered, but communications devices are being installed at multiple points, which means that future breaks in power can be pinpointed much more precisely, and also that UK Power Network’s control centre will become immediately aware of any problem. There should also be a reduction in intermittent faults.

The picture shows the work being done in the Cackle Street / Stonesdown area this afternoon.

This work is the result of persistent lobbying by the Parish Council and some individuals to ensure a more reliable supply. We will continue to monitor the situation and push for further improvements if necessary.
