By now you will have received your invitations to join in with the celebrations on Thursday 2nd June, but in case someone has been missed out by mistake, we set out below the programme:

12 noon – around 3.30 p.m. Village Picnic followed by children’s games. This is being held around the village hall and the field behind the hall, which has been lent to us for the afternoon by the Normans and Wrenns. The Village Hall has been given free of charge to the village for the occasion. Access to the field behind will be from the village hall site to ensure no one has to walk on the road.

The children’s games are being organised by Mrs. Jo Foy and if you want to let her know your child will be attending, or if you want to help her, she can be contacted on joannapfoy2@gmail.com Apart from the games, there will also be a competition for the best Jubilee headgear (which adults can join in with if they wish).

Just bring your own picnic and enjoy the day.

9.15 – around 11 p.m. latest. Beacon celebrations up at The Needle, Mount Farm, Brightling.

The ceremony will start off with Mungo playing, on his bagpipes, a piece of music especially composed for the occasion.

Paul Hatfield (he and Deborah are very kindly hosting this event) will make a short toast and then, just prior to the lighting of the beacon itself the headmaster from Vine Hall School will be playing the bugle; again a piece of music especially composed for the occasion. He cannot be at the event so it will be played via a recording. The lighting of the Beacon takes place at exactly 9.45 p.m.

Come and experience the magic of the evening at such a high point in Sussex from where you can see Firle Beacon and Crowborough Beacon: a 360 degree view of pure magic.
