Parish Clerk Vacancy – Brightling, East Sussex – village website

Brightling Parish Council’s clerk is hanging up her boots, or whatever equivalent item clerks hang up, and is off to pastures new. This is a brilliant part-time, flexible job which is perfect for someone who likes to be involved in the community and provides an interesting insight into various local matters.

Even if you have never worked in local government before, it is a good introductory role, as Brightling Parish Council isn’t responsible for any assets and so if you are organised, not afraid of numbers, can use basic software packages such as Excel & Word, to keep up with administrative tasks whilst working from home under a flexible working hours arrangement, this could be for you.

This role is the only paid one within a parish council as councillors give up their time for free. The current requirement is for 30 hours per month at approximately £11/hr with an additional tax-free home office allowance. There are 6 evening meetings a year plus the Annual Assembly which is organised by the parish council.

If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Gilly on clerk@brightling-pc.gov.uk or by ringing 01424 838432.  This is being advertised locally first, before contacting the wider clerk network. Training and a decent handover will be provided by the current clerk. Deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 20th September.
