| Recent doorstep crimes – from Sussex Neighbourhood watch alert team |
A trending doorstep crime is currently being seen across Sussex. This involves 2 males knocking on elderly peoples’ doors claiming to be from the council and needing payment to fix the drains. They ask for payment via card, asking the victim to hand over their bank card and pin to take the payment, and then abscond with the bank card. To date there have been reported losses in excess of £35K across seven cases this month. Cases have occurred in East, West and Mid Sussex. Please be vigilant, and make others aware of thos recent trend. |
