An announcement from Isabel Lloyd

Night walk

Join the Sussex Sidewalk Astronomers,  Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society Doug Edworthy , sustainable gardening writer Isabel Lloyd, and the High Weald’s Dark Skies co-ordinator Samantha Nicholas for an informative and exciting after-dark walk exploring our local spring skies and night-time habitats.

Kicking off at 7.30om at a private site in Brightling, we’ll be taking a torchlit walk through gardens, orchards, woodland and hay meadows, discussing how these support nocturnal creatures such as bats, invertebrates, amphibians and night-flying birds, and making the most of the location’s panoramic views of the sky to learn about our glorious spring-time constellations. With the help of the Sussex Sidewalk Astronomers and Seven Sisters Astronomy Group we’ll then spend some time with telescopes getting up close and personal with our galaxy, before ending with hot soup and the chance to discuss everything we’ve learnt.

Numbers are limited; for full details and to book your place visit https://www.tickettailor.com/events/highwealdnationallandscapepartnership/1533564 or email brightlingenvironmentgroup@gmail.com

NB If weather is unsuitable on the 17th, the event will be held on 24th April instead. Not suitable for those with limited mobility.
