It is now almost 8 years since the community started seeking safer roads through Burwash. Our simple aim for the introduction of a 20mph speed limit through the Village and priority signs at the pinch point has been repeatedly obstructed by East Sussex County Council Officers. Their latest ploy is to redesign the scheme with unnecessary additional works to make it unaffordable.
The Community are fed up with the delays which put us all at risk and have decided to petition East Sussex County Council to demonstrate the Community’s enduring commitment to protect this unique place and the people who live, work, and visit here.

I/We continue to support the introduction of a safe speed limit for Burwash Village and in line with Government guidance, Police advice and the results of speed surveys, we call on East Sussex County Council to agree to proceed without further delay with our simple and affordable 20mph safety scheme, which requires just the change of signage.
