Coronation Celebration 7th May 2023 – Brightling, East Sussex – village website

Brightling’s village celebration will be marked by a picnic (bring your own) on the field behind the village hall, by permission of Long Reach Farm. Many of you will remember the venue from the late Queen’s Jubilee celebration last year. Parking is available as before. If you have any questions or suggestions for the afternoon contact Jane and Geoffrey Beard at thewatertowerbrightling

12 noon onwards picnic. Bring your own and set up in family, friends, or neighbourly groups

2.30 approx. Punch and Judy show brought to us by the man who has been performing at Eastbourne for the past 30 years. Did you know that the earliest script that can be found for a performance in England dates from around 1827, but it does have its roots in 16th Century Italy. The performance for our celebration has been brought up to date whilst respecting tradition, and will suit all ages

3.15 approx. Judging of children’s mask competition (adults can join in if they wish). The theme is simply the Coronation so let your imagination run over all aspects. Originality is the key to winning

During the afternoon, local Michael Pilley, trombonist, will be entertaining us with live music which he describes as being “music perfect for a Summer’s Day”.
