Fire and rescue not to merge with West Sussex

The Sussex Police and Crime commissioner, Katy Bourne, has decided not to go ahead with the idea of taking control of Fire and Rescue Services in East Sussex. My information on this comes via our County Councillor, John Barnes MBE, who says that this is good news for East Sussex. Had this idea gone ahead, John Barnes says, it would have resulted in a decrease of resources for Fire and Rescue in East Sussex. This arises from the fact that East and West Sussex have a combined police force, but each has a separate fire service.

While on the subject of fire and rescue, a reminder to ensure that the name of your house is clearly visible at your road entrance. This can save vital minutes for an ambulance or fire engine trying to find your property (or ensure that your pizza arrives hot, for that matter ā€“ LOL).
